100,000 is a beautiful round number which has found application in warranty of some well-known automakers regarding the mileage plan. There’s always ‘but’, though.

Automakers with 100,000-mile warranty include:

Hyundai

Hyundai was one of the first automakers to offer a huge 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty and the company sticks to it till this day. It even has the official market title ‘America’s Best Warranty‘. We cannot say how justifiable it is regarding the actual service, but there are no better offers regarding the terms of the warranty, that’s for sure.

Kia and Hyundai are partners in many respects. These successful Korean automakers not only cooperate with each other, they learn from each other. One of the lessons learnt by Kia from Hyundai is exactly the 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty plan.

In recent years, the North American branch of Mitsubishi cannot boast of great achievements but they still are trying (unlike Suzuki, for instance). Currently, one of the major selling points of the brand is a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty plan, the same as of Hyundai and Kia.

Until recently, General Motors brands like Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC, and FCA brands like Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram also had a 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, but, eventually, these companies decreased it to either a 6-year/70,000-mile or a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty in order ‘to be more consistent with industry practices’.
