Versatile Overall Package
The 2017 Elantra GT comes standard with a 2.0-liter, Nu engine mated to either a 6-speed manual, or 6-speed automatic, transmission. The Nu produces a healthy 173 peak horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 154 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,700 rpm all while delivering EPA rated fuel economy of 24 mpg city/32 mpg highway/27 combined mpg.
The suspension upfront is MacPherson struts and 22mm diameter anti-roll bar. In back is a lightweight coupled torsion beam and monotube shock absorbers. Value Edition and above equipped GT’s receive a more responsive suspension tune and P215/45R17 tires on alloy rims.
The GT’s beautiful body results from Hyundai’s ‘Fluidic Sculpture’ design language, which shows in the aggressive profile, low overall height, and sleek side mirrors. In addition to grabbing attention, the GT slips through the air with a 0.30 coefficient of drag. Inside, Hyundai engineers worked tirelessly to maximize interior volume and optimize ergonomics to provide cabin room, cargo space, and versatility. The Elantra GT seats five, or four with room for carrying long toys like golf clubs or snowboards. The GT offers a folding 60/40 split rear seat that can handle even larger items. The bottom rear seats also fold forward, for a large flat cargo floor.
