Pickup trucks as the whole have seen spectacular rises and unfortunate falls. They have been present on the market since the beginning of the automotive industry. What is the most prominent truck? By the number of sold units, it is the Ford F-Series.

The Undoubted Leader

Since its introduction after the WWII, in 1948, the Ford F-Series was sold over 36,000,000 times. It is world’s best-selling truck for thirty consecutive years. The most popular version of the F-Series is the Ford F-150, produced in thirteen different generations. It has been the best-selling vehicle in the United States since 1981 and the best-selling truck since 1977. There was also rebadged versions of the Ford F-Series sold as the Mercury M-Series and  Lincoln Blackwood/Mark LT pickup trucks.

The Ford F-Series is still sold by hundreds of thousands each year. In recent years, it even shows a rise in sales: it was sold 584,917 times in 2011, 645,316 times in 2012, 763,402 times in 2013, 753,851 times in 2014, and 780,354 times in 2015.

The Continuation of Dominance

It looks like the Ford F-Series will last as long as the whole class of pickup trucks will exist. There are some successful competitors from General Motors (Chevrolet & GMC) and FCA (Ram), but the Ford’s truck is the vehicle with a long history and impeccable reputation. Thus, the new 2017 Ford F-Series will surely be among the best-sellers.

Currently, Ford has unveiled only the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor special edition. The basic edition of the next year’s model is still underway.

“The new racing Raptor is firmly based on the Built Ford Tough production version, so it features a high-strength, military-grade. aluminum alloy body, high-strength steel frame, all-new high-output 3.5L EcoBoost® engine, all-new 10-speed transmission, torque-on-demand transfer case and race-optimized, long-travel suspension. There’s no doubt it’s going to continue the proud Ford tradition of toughness, durability and overall kick-butt-ness. To prove Raptor’s worthiness, we’re going to take it to do battle with the most demanding terrain”, – the Ford official site says.
