The honors and awards just keep coming for the all-new 2016 Nissan TITAN XD, which has just been selected as “2016 Pickup Truck of the Year” by the editorial staff of Autobytel, a leading provider of online automotive services connecting consumers with dealers.

In choosing the groundbreaking Cummins® 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel-powered full-size TITAN XD as their pickup truck category winner, the editors wrote:

“The 2016 Nissan Titan XD is kind of an underdog. In a world where Ford, Ram, and Chevrolet have dominated the pickup discussion for decades, the Titan was an afterthought, but the redesigned Nissan Titan thinks outside the box and gives us the brand’s first legitimate truck contender in ten years. With a mighty turbo diesel V-8 sourced from Cummins under the hood and an unusual, not-quite-heavy-duty platform that maximizes towing and practicality thanks to its gobs of torque, the Nissan Titan XD earns its Autobytel Pickup Truck of the Year stripes by challenging the norm.”

The 2016 TITAN XD went on sale in late December with a starting MSRP* of $40,290 and is offered in five grade levels: S, SV, SL, PRO-4X and Platinum Reserve. It is the first in a complete family of Nissan TITAN full-size pickups that will include three cab configurations, two frame sizes, three powertrain offerings and five grade levels. The additional TITAN models will begin rolling out this spring, eventually offering models that will compete in more than 85 percent of light truck segments.

“Nissan is once again honored to be singled out by a group of influential journalists for our efforts in offering American truck enthusiasts a fresh alternative to the current selection of established models,” said Fred Diaz, division vice president and general manager, North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc. “We thank Autobytel and hope their knowledgeable readers will give the TITAN XD serious consideration when shopping for a new full-size pickup.”

The “Every Duty” TITAN XD Crew Cab’s growing list of awards includes AutoGuide.com “2016 Truck of the Year;” Cars.com and PickupTrucks.com “Best Pickup Truck of 2016;” and the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) “Truck of Texas,” “Luxury Pickup Truck of Texas,” “Off-Road Pickup Truck of Texas” and “Best Powertrain” for its standard Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel engine.
