Michael Stich and Michael Chang are with works driver Mark Webber on the Porsche test track.
At the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Mark Webber found himself on unfamiliar territory as the guest of Michael Stich and Michael Chang. In the Porsche Arena, the Porsche works driver and former Formula 1 star played an exhibition doubles with the tennis legends and the Australian Open winner Angelique Kerber. One day later he returned the favour by inviting them to his “back yard”: the reigning World Endurance champion paced around the track at the Research and Development Center in Weissach with the former Grand Slam winners whilst Angelique Kerber was preparing for her opening match at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.
“Now I know why I’m a tennis player,” said Michael Stich after the test drive in the new Porsche 718 Boxster, the main prize for the winner of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. “It’s fascinating to see how the car is working every second.” Michael Chang was no less impressed: “Oh boy,” he said when getting out of the car. “I need some fresh air. Incredible, how Mark keeps the car under control.” The tennis match and test drive were memorable experiences for Mark Webber too. “Chang and Stich are my childhood heroes,” he said. “It was great driving with them.”
