The GMC Terrain is the marque’s smallest SUV that replaced the Pontiac Torrent after the discontinuation of the Pontiac brand.

The Debut

The GMC Terrain debuted at 2009 New York International Auto Show for the 2010 model year. It shared the platform, the drivetrain, and interior components with the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The only difference was noticeable in body panels and standard features. This distinction persists to this day.

Introduction of Denali

The Denali trim beloved by many appeared for the 2013 model year. This trim adds more chrome elements, firmer front struts, better interior quality, a handful of new features, and the 3.6L SIDI V6 engine that is similar to the 2012 Cadillac SRX. The aforementioned features include a cross-traffic detection, a blind-spot warning and a power passenger seat as options.

2016 GMC Terrain

GM made a facelift of the GMC Terrain as well as the Chevrolet Equinox for 2016. It is the first mid-cycle refresh for the GMC’s model. The refresh consists of new front and rear fascias, new grille, a power dome hood, LED daytime running lights, new wheels, a new gear selector, a second storage shelf under the dashboard, and a deletion of the door lock buttons from the dashboard.

The starting MSRP for this compact SUV with 22/32 (CITY/HWY) MPG is $23,975.
