The Nissan Rogue is a popular mid-size crossover SUV that accommodates up to seven passengers. It is produced by the Japanese automaker Nissan Motor Company.

North American Debut

The Nissan Rogue debuted at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 7, 2007. At that moment, it was the smallest SUV in the Nissan’s model line. Now, it is placed between Nissan Juke mini SUV and Nissan Murano mid-sized SUV, which is not capable of carrying seven passengers despite the bigger size (at 97.5 cu ft vs. 108.8 cu ft the Rogue offers less passenger volume than the Murano, and has a smaller cargo area of 28.9 cu ft vs. 31.6 cu ft).

First generation

Sales of the completely new 2008 Nissan Rogue started in September 2007. It came with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive in three trims: S, SV, and SL, the latter being the most luxurious. The first-generation Rogue received three major uplifts (in 2010, 2011 and 2013), and was manufactured alongside the second generation from 2013 to 2015 as the Rogue Select model. For those who wished more aggressive styling, there was a Krōm Edition and later a Special Edition available throughout the years.

Second generation

The current second-generation Nissan Rogue inspired by the Nissan Hi-Cross Crossover Concept was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2013. In Europe, it is known as the third-generation Nissan X-Trail. It is based on the Renault-Nissan Common Module Family (CMF) and shares the design with Juke and Murano siblings.

Since its original debut in 2007, the Nissan Rogue hasn’t changed the engine. The same 2.5 L 4-Cylinder QR25DE rated 170 hp (127 kW) and 175 pound-feet (237 N·m) powers the new model, as well as the very first one. Probably, this is not the least reason why the price tag for the Nissan Rogue remains to be so competitive.

With the starting MSRP $23,290, it is one of the most affordable SUVs with 3rd-row seating available for purchase.
