The 2016 Volvo XC90 R-Design is the preferred Performance Utility of the Texas Auto Writers Association.
The 316-horswpower, seven passenger SUV was recognized at the Texas Auto Roundup, an annual media event held this week at the famous Texas Motor Speedway where more than fifty journalist members of the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) evaluate the latest cars on the market. Competitors included the Tesla Model X and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.
“From its elegant design to its cleverly powerful engine, thoughtful safety features and semi-autonomous driving capabilities, the XC90 is simply a class-leading package” said Nic Phillips, TAWA president. “Our journalists continue to award this new XC90, this time for it’s performance oriented variant, the benchmark has been set high and the Volvo delivers.”
“The XC90 continues to impress and rightly so,” said Lex Kerssemakers, President and CEO, Volvo Car USA. “Volvo is honored to receive this recognition, especially after winning several TAWA awards last year.”
The XC90 was named 2015 Crossover Utility Vehicle of Texas and 2015 Luxury Crossover Utility Vehicle by the Texas Auto Writers Association. It was also recognized for Best Technology.
