Usually, fast cars have turbocharged engines with enormous power and torque in exchange for equally enormous fuel consumption. However, the recent progress in automotive industry allows to built incredibly fast electric cars.

Tesla Motors constantly improve their Model S while others only show concepts and promise unbelievable speed and power. The top-notch Model S P90D with Ludicrous Speed Upgrade needs only 2.8 seconds to break the 0-60 mph threshold. It is better than the Ferrari 488 GTB supercar, for Christ’s sake! With the maximum speed of 155 miles per hour, the Tesla Model S P90D is the fastest production EV currently available. Of course, this version is much more expensive than the basic Tesla Model S 70D. Its MSRP starts at $108,000 (against $75,000 for 70D).

The Tesla Model S P90D was introduced in July 2015. The car combines a front axle power of 259 horsepower (193 kW) and rear axle power of 503 horsepower (375 kW) to a total of 762 horsepower (568 kW). The acceleration can reach 1.1g, described by Tesla as “faster than falling”.

Not so long ago, it was reported that a firmware version distributed for the Tesla Model S has support for a yet to come P100D variant, i.e. a performance model with a 100 kWh battery and dual motors. It seems that it will be even faster.

Do you like muscle cars? Of course, you do. And how about the 1968 Ford Mustang that is capable of breaking 0-60 mph threshold in incredible 1.7 seconds? That’s the fastest street-legal EV in the world. In order to achieve this result, Bloodshed Motors teamed up with John Wayland who had built the White Zombie, a heavily modified 1972 Datsun with batteries designed specifically for Navy helicopters. With these batteries, the Zombie 222 can chew up and spit nearly every car at the dragstrip.

There’s a good news – you could own one of the Zombie 222, actually. However, you have to bring a donor car, pay the individually selected price and wait for the upgrade.
