The Chevy Volt is probably the most advanced and complicated vehicle developed by General Motors in recent years. It is company’s frontier of modern technologies. And the critical acclaim received by it proves that such technologies are in high demand.

So, How Far Can a Chevy Volt Go?

According to General Motors, the Chevy Volt can go up to 53 miles with a full charge and up to 420 miles with a full charge and a full tank of gas. The company expects owners will drive 1,000 miles between fill-ups with regular charging, ‘making the gas station a distant memory’.

The Chevy Volt is powered by two electric motors that work in unison. When the battery runs low on electric charge, the car engages its gas-powered 1.5L direct injected high-efficiency engine. At the same time, it captures its own momentum to recharge the battery as it slows down.

2017 Chevrolet Volt

Relative to the previous model, the new 2017 Chevrolet Volt received minor updates. Its MSRP starts at $33,220 with federal tax credit from $0 up to $7,500. The price after tax credit might be as low as $25,720.

Among other things, the new Volt offers Teen Driver Technology, a built-in system to help encourage safe driving habits and let parents know how their teenager drove the vehicle. This system enables several features such as muting audio when front seat occupants aren’t wearing their safety belts, giving audible and visual warnings when the vehicle is traveling at predetermined speeds and informing you if safety features like available Forward Collision Alert or Lane Departure Warning were triggered.

The Chevy Volt has won several awards, including the 2009 Green Car Vision Award, 2011 Green Car of the Year, 2011 North American Car of the Year, 2011 World Green Car, 2012 European Car of the Year, and 2016 Green Car of the Year. We also mentioned the vehicle in Sedans with the Best Gas Mileage list.
