The Ford Flex is an interesting choice if you want a good-looking full-size crossover. It has plenty of space and an all-wheel drive as an option.

Intelligent All-wheel Drive (AWD)

The Ford Flex comes with a front-wheel drive or an all-wheel drive depending on the model and the desire of the buyer. If you want the latter, you should look into SEL or Limited models.

Ford Motor Company markets the Ford Flex with the so-called ‘Intelligent AWD’. According to Ford, this AWD “continuously monitors wheel speed, throttle position, and steering angle to determine the vehicle’s conditions and the driver’s intent”. It also “determines the optimal amount of front and rear torque for the given conditions to not only reduce wheel slip but to prevent the slip from occurring in the first place, which helps keep the vehicle sure-footed in a variety of conditions – such as slippery surfaces”.

Affordability

The Ford Flex is the least expensive seven-passenger full-size crossover SUV on the market. Only the Kia Sorento, the Nissan Rogue, the Mitsubishi Outlander, and the Dodge Journey are cheaper; however, they are mid-size, not full-size, which means they have less space for passengers. 2016 Ford Flex

The 2016 Ford Flex is available in three models: SE, SEL, and Limited. The starting MSRP for SE is $29,600, for SEL – $32,300, and for Limited – $37,800. The SEL model comes with a 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 engine and an all-wheel drive as an option while the Limited model – with a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine and an all-wheel drive by default. Unfortunately, the basic SE model doesn’t have the option for an all-wheel drive at all. It comes only with a 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 engine and a front-wheel drive.
