Jaguar F-Type is currently one of the most fashionable sports cars available in the United States. The car made its first appearance in 2013 as the spiritual successor of glorious E-Type.

Development

The first mentions of Jaguar’s classic sports coupe resurrection emerged after several concepts like 2010 Jaguar C-X75 plug-in hybrid supercar and 2011 Jaguar C-X16 hybrid electric sports car. In April 2012, Jaguar announced officially that they are ready to produce F-Type, which was subsequently shown to the public as the convertible version at the Paris Motor Show in September 2012.

Since 2013, Jaguar continues to produce F-Type in the steady rhythm. The assembly is carried out in the UK at Castle Bromwich Assembly in Castle Vale, Birmingham, England.

Castle Bromwich Assembly

The factory opened before the Second World War as Castle Bromwich Aircraft Factory, a shadow facility for the production of aircraft by the automotive industry as part of the rearmament of the UK. It has become one of the largest producers of aircraft during the war.

Jaguar Cars acquired the facility in 1977. Since then, it was used to produce cars, including Jaguar XK grand tourer, Jaguar XJ luxury sedan, Jaguar XF mid-size luxury/executive sedan, Jaguar S-Type mid-size luxury/executive sedan, and Jaguar F-Type.

Castle Bromwich Assembly handles body stamping operations, body assembly, paint and trim, and final assembly. Over 2,000 workers work at the site producing thousands of cars.

There are rumors that Tata Motors, the Indian company which is the current owner of Jaguar Land Rover, is planning to close one of the assembly sites in the UK: Jaguar’s Castle Bromwich Assembly or Land Rover’s Lode Lane plant. However, all plants will remain open until at least 2020. What’s going to be after that is unknown.

According to the official site, starting MSRP for base version is $61,400.
