On a wave of crossover SUV’s rising popularity, Honda introduced the Acura MDX – a mid-size luxury crossover SUV with 3rd-row seating – in 2000.
The Acura MDX was the first crossover SUV to have 3rd-row seating and it is the best-selling three-row luxury crossover SUV of all time.
Honda of Canada Manufacturing
The manufacturing process started at Honda of Canada Manufacturing (HCM) in Alliston, Ontario, Canada, in 2000 for the 2001 model year. The first-generation and second-generation Acura MDX were built at this plant till 2013. In March 2013, HCM built its last Acura MDX. Since 2000, a total of 713,158 Acura MDX were manufactured at the facility. Now HCM builds Honda Civic and Honda CR-V only.
Honda Manufacturing of Alabama
In May 2013, Honda Motor Co., Ltd. moved the assembly to Honda Manufacturing of Alabama (HMA) in Lincoln, Alabama, making the Acura MDX an American-made vehicle. For now, HMA is the sole manufacturer of the Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot, Honda Ridgeline and the Acura MDX.
2017 Acura MDX
The 2017 Acura MDX debuted a week ago at New York International Auto Show. The restyled and refreshed vehicle features technologies like the Sport Hybrid Super Handling-All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) and the AcuraWatch as standard options. It will go on sale at Acura dealerships nationwide this summer.
For now, Acura dealerships offer the 2016 Acura MDX with an MSRP starting at $43,015.
