The IVA award is based on a survey of more than 65,000 new car owners in the United States. It recognizes vehicles that match consumer expectations and requirements across 15 categories, including ride and handling, driver’s seat comfort, interior storage, safety features, interior lighting, power and acceleration, and technology. The Golf scored highest among the 18 compact cars ranked by AutoPacific respondents.

For the 2016 model year, the Golf family gains a suite of connectivity features that includes USB and available App-Connect technology for compatible smartphones, as well as a number of available driver assistance systems. When equipped with the available Front Assist system, the 2016 Golf, Golf GTI and Golf SportWagen 4-door models, received a 2016 TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
